White Ribbon Riders

On Rangihana's 6th birthday the White Ribbon Riders came to Russell School.

The riders told us why they wear white ribbons and are riding throughout New Zealand.
They want to make sure that people are safe and no one is hurt by anybody else.

Here is the birthday boy
sitting on one of the bikes.

Lucky Rangihana.  What a cool thing to do on your birthday.

This is a book by the amazing author Joy Cowley.

Last week Isabella and two others from the junior school got to go to Raroa Intermediate and meet her.

Joy presented the girls with a copy of her book "Stories of the Wild West Gang".

Here is a photo of Isabella shaking hands with Joy.

And here she is sitting on Joy's knee!

A big, big thank you to Leanne and Chrissie, the fantastic parents, who made the trip possible.

Our soccer stars

Four of the Room 3 boys: Cordeius, A.R.J. Taniela and Rangihana, were part of the soccer team this year.
They were very excited to be part of the team and enjoyed and looked forward to the practices, as much as they did the games.
A big, big thank you to Paul, the coach for all he did for the team.

Bush Builders rocks

A big thank you to Kim and the bush builders team at the Zoo.

We had a fantastic time and look forward to seeing you at Russell School.

Blue tongue lizards

We had great fun with blue tongue lizards at the Zoo.

Not only did we get to touch a real live one.....

we also got to climb up the back of a really big one
and  slide down and come out it's mouth!!

We love blue tongue lizards.

We got to touch a real Tuatara. It felt soft.

Kim held it for us.

Trust walk

When we were at the zoo they blindfolded Whaea Angela and we had to lead her around.
Whaea Angela didn't know where to go.
Juelz held her hand, Irirongo kept saying " It's okay Whaea Angela, you can do it".

Oceana rubbed Whaea Angela's back. We showed lots of H.E.A.R.T and empathy.

Anareia and Zung Bawm as Giraffes

We have just finished a fantastic concert.

Taniela and Jasmyn are hip hop hippos

The theme was Diversity- Dance to a different beat.

Khanye-Rose, Ciahle and Juelz were Flamingos

We were very lucky and joined Room 2.

We did a 'dance' version of  the picture book 'Giraffes can't dance'.

Who's that dancing with Fa'amavaenga?

Thank you Room 2, Whaea Chelsea, and Whaea Lynda we had fun dancing with you.

Izzy and Aliya were ballet zebras
Some wonderful mum's made our masks and costumes. Aren't they AWESOME!!

A big thank you to Izzy's mum and J.J's mum  and the mums from Room 2 for all their hard work.

Whaea Angela says sorry for the number of photos, but they were all so good she couldn't leave any out.
